Modbus TCP Commissioning

Practical Modbus TCP commissioning guidance for CyberSun SEMS device integrations.

Purpose

Use this guide when the target SEMS device integration communicates over Modbus TCP.

Required inputs

  • IP address
  • TCP port
  • unit ID / slave ID where the device requires it
  • correct SEMS device profile

Keep browser-access verification separate from Modbus TCP device polling: first validate LAN reachability, then the device host/port and profile.

The device page is where host, port, profile and polling health come together for TCP-based integrations.

Commissioning procedure

  1. Confirm the device is reachable on the intended IP network.
  2. Confirm the TCP port from the device-side configuration.
  3. Enter host, port and unit ID in the SEMS device form.
  4. Save the device and verify polling.
  5. Validate at least one known live measurement.

Typical failure causes

  • wrong IP address
  • wrong TCP port
  • wrong profile
  • wrong unit ID
  • firewall or client isolation on the site network
